In a world overflowing with self-improvement strategies, personal development techniques, and manifesting dreams, it’s easy to feel caught in a perpetual cycle of striving for a better version of oneself. At Pozz, we understand this dilemma deeply. We believe that true transformation doesn’t come from endlessly chasing an elusive future but from finding peace and purpose in the present moment while still moving forward with intention. Here's the story behind Pozz and how our philosophy can help you achieve that delicate balance.

How Pozz Came to Be

Pozz emerged from a journey of resilience, introspection, and the pursuit of authentic fulfillment. Savanah, the driving force behind Pozz, holds a summa cum laude BA in Psychology and a Master's in Applied Psychology from the University of Southern California, where she specialized in organizational psychology and data analysis/AI. Her academic achievements, paired with her professional success in New York City's competitive tech industry, where she excelled in selling enterprise software to Fortune 500 companies, highlight her expertise and determination.

Despite her accomplishments, Savanah found herself driven by external pressures rather than genuine passion. The fast-paced, high-stakes environment, combined with the isolation of remote work, led to a deep sense of disconnection and lack of purpose. After facing multiple career setbacks, including two layoffs, she embarked on a journey of self-reflection, therapy, and research, seeking to understand the root of her dissatisfaction.

This introspective journey revealed a crucial insight: the relentless pursuit of external goals often leaves individuals feeling unfulfilled. Inspired by this realization, Savanah created Pozz—a platform designed to help others navigate similar challenges by balancing ambition with mindfulness and self-compassion.

Pozz stands as a testament to Savanah’s commitment to fostering a supportive community where young women can achieve their goals while staying grounded in the present moment. It’s a space where personal growth is nurtured through both ambition and mindfulness, allowing members to thrive holistically.

The Reasoning and Science of Pozz

At its core, Pozz integrates principles from psychology and personal growth research. One key insight comes from the field of positive psychology, which emphasizes the importance of mindfulness and savoring the present moment as a way to enhance overall well-being. Studies show that being present and engaged in the current moment can significantly improve mental health and life satisfaction.

Another influential concept is the notion of "flow," introduced by psychologist Mihály Csíkszentmihályi. Flow is described as a state of being fully immersed in an activity, where time seems to stand still, and the individual feels a deep sense of enjoyment and fulfillment. Pozz encourages creating conditions that foster this state by embracing the present while pursuing future goals.

Our logo—a slanted "pause" sign, or "//", with the lines of the "z"s mirroring this symbol—captures this essence perfectly. It represents the idea that we can simultaneously be in the moment and in motion, allowing ourselves to appreciate where we are now while striving for what's next.

The Philosophy of Pozz

Pozz’s philosophy revolves around finding harmony between the present and future. Here’s how it works:

  1. Embrace the Present: True transformation begins with accepting and finding joy in the current moment. This doesn't mean becoming complacent but rather recognizing that happiness and contentment can coexist with ambition. By focusing on the positive aspects of our present circumstances, we can build resilience and maintain a more balanced perspective.

  2. Release Resistance: Often, we resist our current state or the way things unfold because we have specific expectations or attachments to how our lives should be. Pozz teaches that letting go of this resistance—releasing the need for things to be a certain way or clinging to past or future expectations—can lead to greater peace and clarity. This doesn’t imply giving up on goals but rather freeing ourselves from the pressure and frustration that comes from unmet expectations.

  3. Cultivate Gratitude: Acknowledging and appreciating what’s going well, even amidst challenges, can create a positive feedback loop. When we focus our energy on what we are grateful for, we often find that other areas of our lives start to improve. Gratitude shifts our mindset from scarcity to abundance, helping us to stay motivated and engaged.

  4. Set Intentional Goals: While being content with the present, Pozz encourages dreaming big and setting purposeful goals. The key is to maintain a balance where our aspirations drive us forward without overshadowing our appreciation for the present moment.

In essence, Pozz is about creating a state where we are not constantly escaping the current moment in pursuit of an ideal future. Instead, we learn to appreciate where we are, understand that the journey itself is valuable, and move forward with intention and excitement for what’s to come.

Conclusion

Pozz invites you to explore this balance of being both present and forward-moving. It’s about finding joy in the now while maintaining a clear vision for the future. By releasing resistance and focusing on gratitude, you create a more fulfilling and harmonious life.
